Hello to all you "RAIDERS". I was
finding it difficult to sit down and write a bio so I tried to
get a few people to do it for me like Father Byers did but I
didn't have any luck! I have not ventured far from O'Rafferty
HS in the last 45 years. I have been married for 33 years, my
wife Claudia is a saint and congrats to the classmates that have
been together over 40 years...wow! Claudia and I have been parishoners
at St. Gerard for over thirty years; our three children attended
St. Gerard School and went on to graduate from Lansing Catholic.
Eric, our oldest son (27), lives in the Lansing area and is currently
in the Radiology Tech program @ LCC while working @ Ingham Regional
Hospital. Ben (24), a Michigan Grad is currently teaching in
Jacksonville, Florida for the "Alliance for Catholic Education"
program. The two year program provides teachers to low income
parochial schools in the south, is fully funded through the University
of Notre Dame and when completed he will have a Masters in Education.
Alex (18), a 2010 Lansing Catholic grad, is pursuing a degree
in Film Production at Lansing Community College and Grand Valley.
My hopes are that all will be paid for before I turn 70!
I retired from the State of Michigan in June of 2009 after 40
plus years of service as Warehouse Manager for the Liquor Control
Commission and Office Service Manager for the Department of Energy,
Labor & Economic Growth. Claudia continues to work for the
State of Michigan and hopes to retire as soon as the governor/legislature
gets the budget worked out! No big plans yet, but thinking we
would like to so some traveling....out West, maybe to the East
Coast and Upper Northeast area. Retirement is great, I'm not
sure what I do some days but it seems that I am always busy.
Claudia decided things were a little too quiet around the house
a few years ago and so we got a Yellow Labrador Retriever (now
weighing in @ 85 lbs). His name is Brody, he keeps me company
and keeps me active as we walk everyday.
I am amazed and proud of everything our class has accomplished
over the years and the way all pulled together to help those
who have experienced serious health issues and those that have
passed on. You are all an inspiration.
I am hoping to see you all at Tony M's on the 25th!
Most Sincerely,
Don Mueller
PS....This wasn't so bad once I got going, now I can't stop....I
too have been a big ND fan over the years; I would like to get
together with Mike Heiler and Bob Bauer some day and go to a
game...Go Irish! Also, think about this...Tom Maloney, Jack &
Noella's son, as many of you know is the principal @ Lansing
Catholic and was my son Ben's basketball coach @ LCHS. I think
Maloneys have been married longer than I. Tom is also a saint
and doing a great job. |
